DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning

$249 (includes Express Facial)

WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that removes dead skin buildup and fine vellus hairs (known as “peach fuzz”), on the face using a 10 gauge individual sterile blade at a 45 degree angle  slowly across the skin. It removes every barrier that can play a part in making your face look dull or uneven, resulting in an exceptionally smooth, fresh, and brighter appearance.

An enzyme or chemical exfoliation (BioRePeel) may be applied after dermaplaning to achieve a deeper exfoliation and further smooth the skin.

→A professional-grade exfoliating treatment that helps smooths the skin and refines pores
→Removes all excess peach fuzz that traps in dirt and oil
→Provides immediate results and no downtime
→Enhances absorption of your creams and serums into the skin
→Increase collagen production
→Improved cell regeneration
→Instantly reveals a brighter and smoother complexion
→Diminishes the look of fine lines & wrinkles
→Reduced acne scarring
→Preps your skin for other procedures (like microneedling, microdermabrasion, RF (radio refrequency) or ultrasound)

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Dermaplaning gently resurfaces the skin using a very fine, 10 gauge individual sterile blade to delicately abrade the skin’s surface with light, feather-like strokes. Our skin experts are highly skilled in using this gentle technique to carefully remove dead surface skin cells for deep exfoliation. First, we will cleanse and dry your skin for maximum efficacy. Next, you’ll lie still as we use precision movements to reveal fresh, radiant skin.

After treatment, we will moisturize your skin for deep hydration and protect it with a professional-grade sunscreen. If you’re combining Dermaplaning with another procedure, we will prepare your skin for the next treatment, as your complexion will be perfectly primed for deep absorption of other products.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is an ideal option for anyone with fine facial hair, unusually sensitive skin, or rosacea.  The only people who dermaplaning is not recommended are for those with very active acne.  Oil from the sebaceous glands needs to travel along the vellus hair to be excreted.  So when the hair is removed, the oil can build up and block glands on the face.  This in turn causes breakouts for people who are prone to them.  In addition, anyone with numerous raised lesions or skin irregularities or a nickel allergy neither should nor undergo dermaplaning.

DERMAPLANING FACTS
→Dermaplaning is a perfect skin resurfacing technique for patients with especially rough or dry skin, hyperpigmentation problems such as melasma or sun spots, mild acne scars or fine facial lines and wrinkles.
→It’s important to be especially conscientious about sun exposure after your Dermaplaning session to avoid hyperpigmentation.
→Dermaplaning can be performed as often as every two weeks, but you will likely only require repeat treatments when you begin to see the regrowth of vellus hair (generally after 3-4 weeks).
→Dermaplaning can be used in conjunction with other spa treatments, helping powerful anti-aging products to penetrate more deeply.

DOES THE FACIAL HAIR GROW BACK THICKER?
One of the common misconceptions about dermaplaning is that it will make your hair grow back thicker and darker. This is a myth.  With this treatment, we are shaving the hair off at the base and not interfering with the follicle structure under the skin, which means hair, will grow back at the same rate, width and texture.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Dermaplaning is a quick and easy procedure resulting in almost no discomfort or down time. No recovery period is required, and your skin expert will apply a deeply hydrating moisturizer and sunscreen after your treatment in order to protect the skin so you can go about your day. It’s important to follow any special post-treatment instructions we provide in order to maximize your comfort and help you get the most from your Dermaplaning treatment.

RESULTS
You should see a noticeable glow immediately after treatment as dead, dull layers of epidermal skin are removed. Without excess vellus hair trapping excess oil and skincare products, most patients see a marked improvement in the skin for a brightening, anti-aging effect. Results from Dermaplaning are not permanent and will typically last 3-4 weeks.  Repeat treatments will be necessary when you see your peach fuzz return.
